The Visit of Mr. Kelly

Congratulations to Geoffrey Keating (2 Walton) who won the under 14 Munster Chess Championship which was held in Limerick (28th to 29th January) and his brother Thomas (1A4) who came third in the same event.

The Ardscoil Rís school choir, conducted by Ms Louise Burke, will perform at the special Mass to mark Catholic Schools’ Week  in the Holy Rosary Church on Tuesday, Jan 31st at 12.00 noon.

A group of Senior Art Students presented the school with a painting to mark moving to our new suite of art rooms. The painting was done on a large reclaimed shelf from the old Art Room which the students worked on during lunchtimes in the first term. The painting ‘Spirit of Ardscoil’ was presented to Ms de Brún, Principal, and Ms O’ Grady, Deputy Principal, by the students and their Art teachers, Ms Neville and Mr Harrison.

Congratulations to the Senior Cup team who beat Midleton 13 points to 6.

Congratulations to the Harty Cup team who beat Castletroy 2-15 to 1-7 .  Ardscoil Ris will be playing either CBS Thurles or CBS Nenagh in the Semi Final on Sunday 5th February.  The venue is to be confirmed.

The BT Young Scientist Exhibition takes place from Wednesday 11th January to Saturday 14th January.  Ardscoil Ris have two teams of students taking part.

Team 1: Keith Clifford, James Clifford and Kevin Dunne. Their project is on ‘Lung Capacity of Sports People V Non-Sports People’

Team 2: Mark Whelan & Cian Graham. Their Project was ‘How Storage Temperature affects the pH of Juices’.

The Ardscoil Ris Harty Cup team are meeting Castletroy College in the Quarter Final on Wednesday 18th January in Bruff.
