This squad has been training since September, although we have had a slow start due to the club League, which restricted our training and match schedule. We were conscious of the danger of overuse of players and possible burnout and thus it is only in recent weeks that we have increased the training input. Lots of time and effort have been invested in the preparation of this squad which has demanded huge sacrifice from the players themselves and the coaches. Two parents - Jim McGann and Gene Leonard have been involved in training, coaching and mentoring and for this the whole squad is extremely grateful.

Junior Cup Rugby Team 2007-2008

Matches have been played against Glenstal, Ennis, Cresccnt, St. Munchins (twice). Castletroy (twice).P.B.C.. Rockwell (twice) & Newbridge. Our record from these 11 matches is wins,2 draws and 3 losses. Lessons hopefully have been learned in all games and will have been taken on board. A slow start against Crescent, dubious decisions and missed touches against St. Munchins arc among those that stand out.

Essentially we are building up for the Junior Cup where we have been drawn against C.B.C. in Cork.

The focus has been on skill development and enjoyment plus team spirit and camaraderie. Winning will be a bonus but it won't be for the want of trying. We have matches against St. Clement s and Clongowes before Christmas and are due to play Roscrea and Kilkenny College after Christmas plus I or 2 other games to be finalised.
