Ardscoil Rís is a Roman Catholic Voluntary school for boys, under the trustee of the christian brothers. The religious education programme within the school aims to promote the spritual and aesthetic development of its students.
Students in all years enjoy three periods of Religious education per week. The school has its own Religion room, which enables the students to partake in prayer meetings, liturgical services and mediation. Students also have access to a Chaplain, in conjunction with the pastoral and guidance system, to assist in the faith development of students. The entire school community also celebrate masses in the local parish church during the different church festivals such as Christmas, Lent and Easter. There are also many oppurtunities throughout the year to celebrate the sacrement of reconciliation.
As a Christian Brothers school, we celebrate the Edmund Rice feast day on the fifth of May, where a group of students and teachers travel to his birth place in Callan, Co. Kilkenny. Retreats are also provided for all years, where possible to help students understand the concept of faith stages and faith development.

At Transition year level, students participate in a social placement programme. They undertake a ten week programme on disabilities of various kinds and spend one week working actively in their community in a variety of different areas like local nursing homes, rehabilitation centres and with various charities. |
Many outreach programmes are also undertaken by the school, in order to provide a catholic education for boys in a caring and christian atmosphere in the pursuit of all round character development. The outreach programmes are at both national and international level. The national programme includes St. Vincent de Paul and Enable Ireland, while the international programme includes Bóthair, Concern and Trocaire.
In addition, a number of students and teachers travel to India every second year as part of the outreach programmes within the christian brother community in Kolkatta and Asonsal to work in orphanages, schools and Mother Teresa's Hospice for the dying.
