The 23 rd Coupe de la Jeunesse event returned to Varese Italy this year. The event is now firmly established with its twelve member Federations and with the Polish team joining this year (for the first time) and built on last year's record numbers with well over 300 at the top European juniors rowers competing. This year Ardscoil made up the largest group from any secondary school in all of Ireland on the Irish Junior Coupe team.

The racing was highly competitive with only a few inches between first and fourth in many races. The Ardscoil students all delivered strong and competitive performances. Over the 2 days in the intensely hot and humid conditions with the temperature over 40 degrees centigrade . Peter Hanily and Niall Mc Inerney winning silver and bronze medals.
