Ardscoil Rís second year art students created a stop motion short film on the theme of child homelessness. There was a special screening in the Clayton hotel on Monday Dec 17th with Minister Jan O’Sullivan(former minister for Education and Labour spokesperson on Housing) as the special guest speaker on the evening. This was an incredible learning experience for our students in Ardscoil Rís and we would like to thank Mr Fergal Kilkenny and Ms Julianne Neville for their work with our students. We would also like to thank Novas for their advice and support. Our appeal this year as a small token of appreciation will go to Novas.

Congratulations to Eoin Corcoran LC 2018 who was awarded one of the UL40 Scholarship Awards. These scholarships are awarded to incoming students based on their performance in the Leaving Cert, determined by their CAO points.
Congratulations to Paul Hamilton who was the Nationwide winner of Swatch Watch Design competition. As part of his prize Paul’s design will go into production next year.
On Tuesday November 27th Ardscoil Ris 5th year students took part in Balance Expo Student Wellbeing Day in the INEC Killarney. This event aimed at educating, enlightening and inspiring students to lead more balanced lives.
Professionals and experts in the areas of physical, mental, emotional and social wellbeing delivered talks in their respective areas throughout the day on the main stage. These were designed to educate students and give them practical and implementable advice in the relevant areas of alcohol and drug abuse, dealing with stress and anxiety, designing your own unique physical activity programme, nutrition and the possible pitfalls of social media.

Joe O’Connor: Founder of both coachpact.com and Nisus Fitness Training Club.
Ronan Brady: Circus artist.
Monika Dukarska: Current World Coastal Rowing Champion.
The activities area tested students in the areas of team building, communication and team challenges. Ardscoil entered 4 teams of 6 students. Ardscoil won the trophy for best team. All other students were given the opportunity to try the activities during the free time slots.
These stands provided students with the most current and relevant evidence based information available on all topics associated with student health, wellbeing, education and careers.
Congratulations to past pupil Eoin Corcoran who received his All Ireland Scholarship Award 2018 Saturday morning inUL. Eoin was one of 9 of the 125 recipients that got the maximum 625 point in his Leaving Cert – he also made time for some media duties with
Hard Luck to the Harty Cup Panel who were defeated yesterday by a very strong St Coleman’s. While it is the end of our campaign for this year we are extremely proud of the panel’s endeavours. We would like to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of all involved. Onwards and Upwards!
